A colorful goodbye

In a riot of colour, music and fireworks, Birmingham left the sportspeople who were there to participate in the Games.

Musical performances

There were 20 performances, including the tribute of Talulah Eve, a tribute singer to Birmingham queer community.

A fun-filled evening

The event had the athletes dancing to music and let their hair down to celebrate the end of the two-week trip.

Bhangra performance

Punjabi MTV performed on "Mundian to Bachke Rahi' which was the first Bhangra track to make it into the UK Top 10 in 2002.

The curtains are drawn down

The Games were officially declared to be over by The Earl of Wessex on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen.

Next CWG host

The Commonwealth Games flag was lowered and presented the flag to Victoria the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Indian contingent

This Indian team was lead by boxer Nikhat Zareen as well as the top shuttler Sharad Kamal.

India's performance

India placed 4th in the medal count with 22 Gold 15, 15 Silver and 23 Bronze medals, and an overall total of 61 medals.

On the top

Australia tops the list with 178 medals. England ended the year in second place having 175 gold medals.
